Nick Kyrgios declares he is ‘better than Serena Williams’ whilst describing mixed doubles experience
Serena Williams and Nick Kyrgios have played together once before, the Australian describing the experience as an awkward one.
The maverick talent made his comments about the 23-time Slam champion on the No Boundaries Podcast.
While the episode has not yet been released, he shared a clip on his Instagram.
“I’ve hit with Serena before,” he began. “I played mixed doubles with her at IPTL and it was the most uncomfortable experience for me because she was trying to do everything.
“And I was like ‘I’m better than you.'”

Kyrgios was describing the International Premier Tennis League (IPTL), an event that ran from 2014 until 2016.
He played alongside Serena Williams in 2014 as part of the Singapore Slammers team.
The pair played just once together, losing 6-3 to Kirsten Flipkens and Daniel Nestor of the Manila Mavericks.
By contrast, Kyrgios played the mixed doubles at Wimbledon 2021 with Serena’s sister Venus, about which he has said only positive things.
He even described the experience as “a dream come true,” and was devastated when he was forced to withdraw ahead of their second round match due to injury.
Both Kyrgios and Serena will look to next take the court at the Australian Open in 2022.
Serena will be making her return after suffering injury in the first round of Wimbledon, while Kyrgios has not played since the Laver Cup shortly after the US Open.
