After parting ways with Wim Fissette, Iga Swiatek has added Spaniard Francisco Roig to her coaching team.
Swiatek ended a 17-month partnership with Fissette in March – eight months on from winning her first Wimbledon title.
As for Roig, the former alternate coach Rafael Nadal most recently worked with ATP player Giovanni Mpetshi-Perricard.
How many Grand Slam titles will Iga Swiatek win with Francisco Roig as her coach?
She's signed one of the best coaches on tour!
Before working with the Frenchman, Roig was the coach of former US Open champion Emma Raducanu.
The pair parted ways in January after only five months working together.
Iga Swiatek’s message after hiring Francisco Roig
On Wednesday, a report from French outlet L’Equipe stated that Swiatek was training with Francisco Roig in Spain after parting ways with Fissette.
On Thursday, Swiatek confirmed the news of her new partnership with Roig.
On her Instagram story, Swiatek posted a picture of herself and Roig [pictured below with Nadal] standing side-by-side on a clay-court.
The post was captioned: “Welcome to the team, Francisco!

“Very excited for this new chapter.”
After a disappointing start to the season – during which she has suffered various early exits – it will be interesting to see if Roig can help Swiatek recapture her best form.
The six-time Grand Slam champion recently admitted she was enduring her ‘worst nightmare’ after losing to Magda Linette in Miami.
However, with a new coach in her box heading into the clay-court season, Swiatek could be set to revolutionise her campaign.

Iga Swiatek has made a smart move by hiring Francisco Roig
Francisco Roig’s experience is an invaluable asset.
The Spaniard has a wealth of experience to draw upon, deriving from his 17-year partnership with Rafael Nadal.
Roig first started working with Nadal in 2005 when the Spaniard was only 18 years old. He left Nadal’s team in 2022.
After Roig’s departure, Nadal expressed his admiration for the coach in a post on Instagram.
He said: “I want to inform you that Francis Roig is leaving my team and starting a new personal project as a coach… He started joining the team and worked with us together with my Uncle Toni and later with Carlos Moyá and recently Marc López.

“Francis has been an important person in my career and I am very grateful to him for all these years of work and friendship.”
“When we started working together I was a child and together with my Uncle Toni, we started on the circuit.
“Francis is a great coach who knows tennis very well and has helped me a lot to get better and better. I only have words of gratitude and I wish him all the luck in the world in his new project!”
With Swiatek’s best surface – like Nadal’s – being clay, Roig’s influence on the Polish star’s game could be gigantic.
At the age of 24, Swiatek already has four French Open titles to her name; and who would bet against the Polish star adding another in June?
