Emma Raducanu has announced her split from coach Francisco Roig.

Raducanu, the British number one, hired Roig in August 2025 following her split from Mark Petchey.

The British star, who enjoyed a relatively successful spell under Roig, raised eyebrows last week when she suggested that she wanted to play a different way.

Who should be Emma Raducanu’s next coach?

A week later, Roig has departed, and Raducanu is once again searching for a new coach.

Following the split, Raducanu posted a message on Instagram.

In a post published on her Instagram story, Raducanu said: “Francis, thank you for our time together. You have been more than a coach to me and I will cherish the many good times we spent on and off the court.

“While we have come to the conclusion together that we ought not to move forward, please know that I am very grateful for all you have taught me and fond of our time shared.”

Raducanu has now worked with nine coaches since April 2021, including Nigel Sears, Jeremy Bates and Nick Cavaday.

The British star has also worked with Vlado Platenik, Dmitry Tursunov and Torben Beltz.

Considering Raducanu has only been an active player on the WTA Tour for the best part of five years, the number of coaches she has worked with is certainly a concern.

The British star needs – as any player does –continuity in her team. So far, she has been unable to find a coach who can provide that.

Who will Raducanu turn to next?

There are a number of individuals who could be tempted to work with Raducanu, who remains one of the most talented players on Tour.

Emma Raducanu won her first Grand Slam too soon – Prove me wrong!

Could Juan Carlos Ferrero be tempted? The Spaniard will surely be keen to return to life on the professional tour after his split from Carlos Alcaraz in December.

Perhaps Andy Murray is the answer? The Wimbledon champion has not coached since working with Novak Djokovic last year. However, he is an individual with a wealth of valuable experience that could be passed on to Raducanu.

Then there is Mark Petchey, whom Raducanu enjoyed a successful period with at the start of 2025.

Whoever Raducanu works with next, one thing is clear: the British star must find a coach who will be a long-term option.
