Top 50 players join Andy Murray on strong list of entrants for pre-Wimbledon Queen’s Club ATP 500 event
Queen’s is the traditional warm up to the Wimbledon Championships each year and 2019 is shaping up to be one of the toughest years yet for the players with a very strong list of entrants including Sir Andy Murray
Last year’s semi finalist, Jeremy Chardy, 21 year old American young star Taylor Fritz and French left hander Adrian Mannarino have agreed to enter this years event but because of the list of players already entered these 3 will have to fight their way through the qualifying rounds.
Andy Murray has been promised a wildcard if he decides he is fit enough to play this year. Those close to Murray have said he is playing tennis and moving around pain free but it’s unclear as to whether he has the conditioning to play in such a top level tournament.
British No.1 Kyle Edmund and No.2 Cameron Norrie will lead the British charge in their home event, with last year’s Wimbledon and US Open finalists Kevin Anderson and Juan Martin Del Potro, defending champion Marin Cilic and three-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka all in with a chance.
Making their first ever appearances at the Queen’s Club tournament are three of the world’s most exciting young tennis stars, including world No.10 Stefanos Tsitipas, world No.30 Felix Auger-Aliassime and Australian No.1 Alex de Minaur.
They’re joined by 2019 Acapulco winner Nick Kyrgios, 2016 Wimbledon finalist Milos Raonic, Australian Open semi-finalist Lucas Pouille, world No.14 Daniil Medvedev and world No.20 Denis Shapavolov.
