Tennis warm up drills: Prepare your body with these simple exercises

Making sure your body is ready to play a match with a structured tennis warm up will not only prevent injury but could be the difference between winning and losing

How many times have you walked onto court to play a match without preparing properly and suddenly found yourself 0-3 down in the first set and already facing an uphill battle? Do you think the professionals would start any match without first preparing their body for the rigours they may first in the first point?

We’ve teamed up with renowned tennis coaching outfit JTC, who are sponsored by ASICS, to give you some great ideas to help you prepare your body to play tennis.

In this instructional video, Ralph Day, the strength and conditioning expert from JTC, shows you some simple and practical warms up drills to help you prevent injury and perform at your very best right from the start of any match or practise session.

In this short series Ralph focusses on muscle stretches to increase ankle, hamstring and back mobility plus a fun drill to prepare your coordination and reactions for a game of tennis.

If you found this useful then check out these drills and tips from the JTC team guiding you on how to improve your groundstroke consistency and accuracy and working on your doubles tactics.

ASICS work closely with many professional tennis coaches and players providing them with footwear and apparel they need to help them perform at their best.
