Emma Raducanu US Open 2021

Is Emma Raducanu search for new coach finally over?

Emma Raducanu has been without a coach since the US Open, but her search for a replacement may now be complete.

The world number 20 is competing in her final competitive tournament of the season at the WTA 250 Upper Austria Ladies Linz.

Raducanu is the top seed there, facing Chinese qualifier Xinyu Wang in her first match.

Off the court, the Brit’s search for someone to fill the shoes of former coach Andrew Richardson looks to be finished.

Raducanu met with her agent Chris Helliar and German coach Torben Beltz prior to Austria, The Telegraph reports.

Beltz is most famous for his work with former world number one and three-time Slam champion Angelique Kerber.

He has coached Kerber across three stints. First from 2004 to 2013, then 2014 to the end of 2017, and July 2020 to now.

That second run saw Kerber claim two of her three Major titles at the Australian Open and US Open, both in 2016. She also claimed Olympic singles silver in Rio that year.

The German duo announced their imminent split on Monday. As a result, Beltz will be free to join Raducanu and her team before next season.

“I’m really feeling positive about my coaching situation, it’s in a good place,” Raducanu said ahead of Linz. “I’ll have a coach in place at the Australian Open.”

Esteban Carill, former coach to Johanna Konta, is the only other known figure in contention. However, he is currently trialling with Andy Murray and his team at the Stockholm Open.

Following the Linz Open, Raducanu is will play an exhibition session at the Royal Albert Hall in London on 28th November as part of the Champions Tennis event there.

Finally, she will cap her pre-season with an appearance at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship in Abu Dhabi in mid-December.
