Novak Djokovic ‘really excited’ to complete dream line-up for ‘unique’ Laver Cup
Novak Djokovic has confirmed his participation in this year’s Laver Cup, joining Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray in London this September.
The 21-time Slam champion will make his second appearance at the premier exhibition event after debuting in Chicago in 2018.
Djokovic joining means that for the first time in the competition all of the ‘Big Four’ will be competing from 23rd to 25th September, and all on the same side, Team Europe.
“I’m really excited to be joining Team Europe again for the Laver Cup at London’s O2 Arena in September,” Djokovic said. “It’s the only competition where you can play in a team environment with guys that you’re normally competing against and to be joining Rafa, Roger and Andy – three of my biggest all-time rivals – it’s going to be a truly unique moment in the history of our sport.”
Djokovic’s involvement in the fifth Laver Cup has been on the cards since Wimbledon. After Murray was revealed to be taking part, Tennishead asked Djokovic if he was considering playing the event for a second time.
“It is a possibility,” he revealed. “My agent has communication with the Laver Cup team.
“We have an agreement that there will be a decision after Wimbledon is finished.”
Of course, all four men have plenty of experience at the O2 Arena, the venue for the ATP Finals from 2009 to 2020, as each of Djokovic, Federer, Nadal and Murray made numerous appearances there, with Djokovic, Federer and Murray all winning the Finals there at least once.

With all four men fighting for Team Europe, Team World will have their work cut out even more than in the previous four editions, all of which they have lost.
So far Indian Wells champion Taylor Fritz, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Diego Schwartzman are confirmed for Team World.
Finally, the Laver Cup could well be the next time fans see Djokovic on court, given he is currently unable to enter the US and Canada to compete in the North American hard court swing and the US Open.
