Controversial Jo Konta interview receives mixed response from tennis fans, celebs and commentators
Tennis fans, sports stars and journalists can’t decide if the questions asked of Jo Konta in her post match interview were overly intrusive or if Konta overreacted to a perfectly fair line of questioning
The post match press conference with Jo Konta after her Wimbledon quarter final loss has certainly created a lot of discussion amongst everyone that’s seen it but it has seemingly split a nation in terms of their opinion.
Professional tennis players are obliged to attend a press conference immediately after their match even if they have lost. This year for the first time Wimbledon are posting the full video of all the press conferences onto YouTube which has given fans for the chance to see how players are questioned immediately after a match by the journalists present.
Thousands of tennis fans have been on Twitter voicing their opinion and here are just a selection of the varied response the Jo Konta press conference has received:
My view on Konta-gate. Mental fragility is vastly over rated, as there’s normally a game based fragility. In JK’s case, one side under pressure is vulnerable, as are her volleys. She did do her best, absolutely, but under pressure her game came up short… that’s all. Move on

OMG!
Who is that dickhead in the Konta press conference. He was patronising the way he worded and delivered that question. There definitely was a better way to ask that and then he pressed her more in the question in a rude manner.

Some interesting opinions re the @JohannaKonta press conference on the @WimbledonChnl today. Agree with general consensus that though the questions could have been phrased better it was fair journalism, there was no element of sexism involved, and Jo could have handled it better

Konta lost to Czech star Barbora Strycova in 2 sets 7-6, 6-1 in the Wimbledon Ladies Singles quarter final. Immediately afterwards she entered mandatory press conference which all went smoothly until one journalist started questions her about her own feelings towards her performance in the match and what she could have done differently.
