‘You or me?’ – Rafael Nadal quips at Roger Federer on Laver Cup announcement

Rafael Nadal reached out to Roger Federer looking to organise hitting practice together just hours after the Swiss confirmed the Laver Cup announcement that the pair will play the 2022 event in London.

With Federer out injured for the foreseeable future, the announcement is a welcome one for fans of the legend, giving a concrete return timeline for seeing him on a tennis court once more.

The fifth edition of the Laver Cup will take place in London from 23-25th September this year, with Nadal and Federer both set to represent Team Europe for the first time since 2019.

“Roger. You book the practice court?” Australian Open champion Nadal responded to Federer’s tweet on the Laver Cup’s post announcing the news.

“Or is it me? Looking forward to playing again with you my friend!”

The pair brought the dreams of many tennis fans to life at the inaugural Laver Cup in 2017 when they teamed up in doubles to take on American Sam Querrey and Jack Sock.

They won in a match tiebreak that day on the way to a 15-9 triumph for Europe overall in Prague.

Europe have since won the following three events, including drubbing Team World 14-1 in 2021.

The 2022 event will be played at the O2 Arena, the host venue of the ATP Finals between 2009 and 2020.

Both Federer and Nadal will be familiar with the location, having competed there 10 and eight times respectively, with Federer winning the event there twice in 2010 and 2011.
