Wilson announces update to iconic Blade racket
Wilson unveiled the newest version of its flagship Blade racket in tandem with the top pros using the design at the US Open.
The US sporting goods company is reaffirming its roots at the US Slam with the reveal of the brand new Wilson Blade v8 in conjunction with the tournament.
A number of the most prolific players on the ATP and WTA tours choose the Wilson Blade v8 as their on-court weapon, and have continued to do so on the courts in New York.
Adopters include world number three Stefanos Tsitsipas, two-time Slam champion Simona Halep and Russian star Karen Khachanov.
“The Blade has been a tour favourite for many years,” Global General Manager of Racket Sports at Wilson, Hans-Martin Reh, said.
“It was important that the product innovation and design DNA evolve with the natural athleticism and instincts of athletes today. We are proud to see the new aesthetic of the v8 used on the courts in Flushing Meadows.”
The racket features FORTYFIVE° “a patent-protected layup technology that was first used in Clash to increase flexibility and stability without compromising power.
“In Blade v8, it produces a more connected-to-the-ball feel to better complement the modern, vertical swing path used by many of today’s competitive players.”
The company also revealed two limited edition rackets in celebration of the 2021 US Open, the Clash 100 US Open Edition and the Blade 98 (16×19) US Open Edition.
The unique design of each rackets displays the iconic New York City street grids on their frames.
