Carlos Alcaraz is set to break a streak dating back eight years to Rafael Nadal when he makes his Laver Cup debut.
Alcaraz will lead Team Europe at the Laver Cup against a Team World made up of Taylor Fritz, Frances Tiafoe, Joao Fonseca, and more.
Alexander Zverev, Holger Rune, and Casper Ruud are the biggest names to join Alcaraz in a star-studded Team Europe.
The Spaniard’s appearance at the 2025 Laver Cup will see him follow in the footsteps of Rafael Nadal yet again.

Carlos Alcaraz will be the first World No. 1 to play the Laver Cup since Rafael Nadal in 2017
Alcaraz’s US Open victory ensured the star gained the World No. 1 spot for the first time since September 2023.
His ascent to the top of the ATP Tour means he will become the first World No. 1 to play the Laver Cup for eight years.
The last to do so was Nadal in 2017 during the tournament’s inaugural year, when the King of Clay led Team Europe to success at The O2 Arena in Prague, Czechia.
Two players from that tournament will play in the 2025 edition, with Tiafoe and Zverev lining up for their respective sides.
The 2025 event will be the eighth Laver Cup tournament, with the recent edition won by Team World in 2024.
How the Laver Cup works ahead of the 2025 edition
The Laver Cup is a round-robin event, which takes place over three days and sees players from each team play singles and doubles matches.
The points for a win increase with each day, with wins on day 1 worth one point, on day 2 two points, and on day 3 three points.
The first team between Team World and Team Europe to reach 13 points across the tie will be deemed the winner.
The team captains for this year will be Team Europe’s Yannick Noah and Tim Henman and Team USA’s Andre Agassi and Pat Rafter.
