Carlos Alcaraz plans to maintain his trend of adding a tattoo with every Grand Slam title he wins, having just claimed a sixth in New York.
The US Open has always been a special place for the Spaniard, as it marked his maiden major triumph.
This has provided the foundation for limitless future success, and at 22 years old, he is already on track to achieve what many thought impossible before the Big Three arrived.
However, when the time comes for him to eventually retire, his body will likely be covered in ink, given his current rate of claiming Grand Slam titles.
Speaking on the ESPN panel after beating Jannik Sinner in the final, he was asked to reveal his latest tattoo plan.Ā
Carlos Alcaraz reveals his US Open tattoo plans
Carlos Alcaraz revealed: āWell, I said itās gonna be the first one, the first major.Ā
āBut seeing that the first one, US Open that I won in 2022, I just tattooed just the date. I had to do something. Right. So what should it be?Ā
āProbably, Iām gonna do two things, because I had a bet at the beginning of the tournaments, the Brooklyn Bridge. I think, yeah. And obviously the Statue of Liberty.
āIām going to do both, and obviously the date. Because this one is special, I have to get it tattooed twice. I donāt know if itās going to be here [on his arm] or on the leg. Iāll have to think about it.ā
Upon reviewing the match, John McEnroe claimed that Alcaraz frustrated Sinner with his game plan. It seems odd that someone so happy and affable can be so deadly on the court.
Carlos Alcarazās tattoos for every Grand Slam title
As Alcaraz touched upon, his very first tattoo to commemorate his first US Open and Grand Slam title was merely a date.
Since then, he has expanded his palette significantly.
After winning Wimbledon the following year, he celebrated with a tattoo of a strawberry on his right ankle and claimed he was going to simply add the date beside it when he defended his crown in 2024.
And, having won the French Open for the first time that same year, he added an Eiffel Tower to his collection, insisting he planned to get just one symbol to tick off winning each major for the first time.
However, having already revealed his plans to break that rule, with two for this US Open, Alcaraz could be covered in tattoos in a decade if he continues at this winning rate.
