WATCH: Tsitsipas suffers unique equipment malfunction in Hamburg
Stefanos Tsitsipas experienced a highly unusual occurrence in his quarter-final match at the German clay court tournament.
The Greek superstar is currently competing at the Hamburg European Open as the top seed as he looks to find his feet again following personal disappointment at Wimbledon.
Up a set against Filip Krajinovic in the last eight, Tsitsipas became frustrated after being broken to 1-3 in the second set, swinging his racket at the surface in frustration.
When returning a serve to start the next game, the Greek’s racket snapped right off at the throat as the head flew off towards the stands.
The return did miraculously land in, with Krajinovic returning it back into court while Tsitsipas could do nothing but watch it pass him by as he walked to replace his equipment.
What just happened 🥴

A similar situation happened to Agnieszka Radwanska back in 2011 at the Australian Open, as the Pole looked exceedingly perplexed by the moment.
