Stefanos Tsitsipas Cincinnati Open 2022

WATCH: Stefanos Tsitsipas conjures deja vu with brilliant diving winner

Stefanos Tsitsipas was in top form to defeat Diego Schwartzman and reach the quarter-finals of the Cincinnati Masters in a performance that included a stunning diving volley.

The world number seven backed up his opening win over Filip Krajinovic by defeating the Argentinian 13th seed 6-3, 6-3.

Though fans are accustomed to seeing the occasional diving shot on a forgiving surface like grass, Tsitsipas has now pulled off the move either side of the lawn oasis, both against Schwartzman.

In Cincinnati, serving at 4-2 in the opening set, Tsitsipas approached the net before what looked a certain passing shot from ‘El Peque’ was snuffed out by the Greek.

Earlier this season, in an epic battle in Monte Carlo, Tsitsipas did the same, this time to his backhand side, and to bring up match point.

Schwartzman walked away, smirking in disbelief, before Tsitsipas went on to win the match and eventually the tournament.

After a shock Montreal defeat to British youngster Jack Draper in his first match since Wimbledon, Tsitsipas appears to be back on the horse in Ohio.

Nest up he faces American veteran John Isner in their seventh career meeting, a match-up Tsitsipas leads 4-2, recovering from losing their first two encounters.

The winner will face either world number one Daniil Medvedev or Indian Wells champion and American number one Taylor Fritz for a place in the final on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Cameron Norrie saw off American wildcard Ben Shelton 6-0, 6-2 to face Carlos Alcaraz, and Felix Auger-Aliassime recovered from a set down against Jannik Sinner to take on a resurgent Borna Coric who backed up his victory over Rafael Nadal by downing Roberto Bautista Agut 6-2, 6-3.
