WATCH: Jenson Brooksby executes outrageous play during US Open win
American wildcard Jenson Brooksby put on the flair to overcome compatriot Taylor Fritz in this second round battle.
The two men played out a four set, four hour match on Grandstand to light up the New York evening.
With Brooksby currently ranked just inside the top-100 at number 99, Fritz was the favourite on paper with a ranking of world number 42.
And the more experienced Fritz took the opening set in a tiebreak after 74 minutes played, the same time it took Alexander Zverev to defeat Albert Ramos-Vinolas earlier in the day.
Brooksby bit back to claim the second in another tiebreak, clinching it 12-10. On-serve in the third, Brooksby serving at 4-5, 15-15, the 20-year-old pulled off a brilliant round-the-net shot, wowing the crowd.

He held on to take the set, and eventually the match, 7-5, 6-2 in the final two sets to reach the third round of a Slam for the first time.
This US Open is a third appearance for Brooksby, previously playing at the 2018 event as a wildcard and in 2019 as a qualifier, where he secured a win over Tomas Berdych to reach the second round.
He will next face Aslan Karatsev, a player he also met on the court at Roland Garros this year. Brooksby lost in straight sets to the Russian in the first round, having come through qualifying.
The American will be looking to exact revenge for that loss in Paris, as he continues to forge his way up the ATP rankings with his performances in New York.
