WATCH: Frances Tiafoe wins ‘crazy’ point on way to Stockholm semis
Frances Tiafoe continued his strong form on indoor hard courts to oust his opponent in a topsy-turvy affair in the Swedish capital.
The 23-year-old has secured his highest win tally in an ATP season in 2021, surpassing 30 wins for the first time in a single season.
Tiafoe faced “good friend” Dan Evans for a place in the last four of the ATP 250 Stockholm Open.
It looked like bad news for the American as Evans claimed a double break to win the opener 6-1.
However, Tiafoe responded immediately to gain a double break of his own and win the second 6-1.
The two battled well, with the match throwing up this brilliant piece of skill from Evans, despite Tiafoe winning the point in the end.

Tiafoe kept the pressure on as Evans eventually looked out of sorts. The American claimed a double break in the third before a third break sealed the match 1-6, 6-1, 6-1.
“The first 30 minutes it looked like I was going home tonight,” Tiafoe admitted about the first set in his post-match interview.
“But, unbelievable job from me turning it around. I mean, Dan [Evans] and I have had very very tough battles in the past.
“He’s a very good player and good friend. So, it’s never easy, but I’m glad I got through.”
The victory puts Tiafoe up 3-2 in the head-to-head, as well as landing the American his 32nd win of 2021.
The 23-year-old recently reached the final of the ATP 500 Vienna Open. That match is to-date his highest level final appearance, previously reaching two ATP 250 finals, winning one title.
