WATCH: ATP match throws up ridiculous game with 9 saved match points!

The ATP Sofia Open treated fans to a game that saw 27 points, including nine match points saved before the eventual ending.

Jaume Munar and Marcos Giron met in the first round of the ATP 250 event in Bulgaria, a first ever match-up for the pair.

After splitting the first two sets, a decider was needed to determine the victor.

After breaking Munar in the opening game of the final set, Giron stepped up to serve for the match at 5-4.

The American quickly went 40-15 up to give himself a first match point, but was unable to convert after his second serve clipped the net and bounced long.

What proceeded was a further 23 points, including three break points for Munar and nine more match points for Giron, finally dismissing his Spanish opponent at the 10th time of asking.

The seven match points following the first included a 14-shot rally, a 30-shot rally, a simple missed put away volley from Giron, a cross court passing winner from Munar and another double fault from Giron.

The American in fact had just two double faults in the whole match, both coming in this epic game.

Giron finally clinched the match when a Munar forehand return sailed into the net, handing over the win.

Giron will next face third seeded Australian Alex de Minaur for a spot in the quarter-finals, a match-up that Giron leads 2-1, with one win for each man on indoor hard courts as in Sofia.

The result also sees Munar continue a poor run of form, with just three wins from his last 14 matches stretching back to Roland Garros.
