US Open Social Slice: Novak Djokovic battles; Emma Raducanu romps through

On today’s Social Slice, Novak Djokovic gets plenty of attention from past opponents, and Emma Raducanu continues her US Open fairy tale.

Twitter was well and truly alive while Djokovic was doing battle with American youngster Jenson Brooksby, particularly with compatriots of the 20-year-old.

Former world number seven Mardy Fish chimed in with his take on why not everyone loves the Serbian juggernaut, bringing Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal into the conversation as always.

Andy Roddick gave his view on what it’s like facing Djokovic, always a tough and gruelling affair.

To which world number 91 Tennys Sandgren responded as follows.

Djokovic and Sandgren have faced each other four times, with the American claiming just one set from those encounters.

British talent Emma Raducanu joined fellow teenagers Carlos Alcaraz and Leylah Fernandez in the last eight of their draws, and the 18-year-old was lapping up the occasion.

Late into the night Maria Sakkari and Bianca Andreescu fought a marathon match which eventually saw Sakkari come out victorious, leaving fans present and on broadcasts astonished.

Sakkari becomes the first Greek player ever to reach the quarter-finals of the US Open, and was understandably emotional after securing the win.
