‘Unacceptable’ – Martina Navratilova slams Novak Djokovic actions
Martina Navratilova has condemned Novak Djokovic for his reckless choices following his positive PCR test on 16th December.
The 18-time Slam singles champion reacted to a CNN timeline of the world number one’s Covid infection and his public appearances following the result.
According to the Djokovic, he took a PCR test on the 16th December while feeling fine and seemingly without symptoms.
On the 17th, he returned a negative rapid antigen test test before attending a public event, with children, non-socially distanced and while not wearing a mask.
However, he had not yet received the result of his PCR test and, as per regulations, he should have been isolating as he waited.
“Not acceptable,” Navratilova bluntly tweeted in response to the series of events.
Following his positive result, he then cancelled all commitments bar an interview and photoshoot with L’Equipe on the 18th.
The journalist interviewing the 20-time slam champion have confirmed Djokovic’s claim that he took precautions like keeping socially distanced and wearing a mask and at all times except for photos.
But, the journalist also revealed that he and the photographer were never told that Djokovic was Covid positive at the time of the meeting.

Djokovic has since admitted that he made a mistake.
“While I went home after the interview to isolate for the required period, on reflection, this was an error of judgement and I accept that I should have rescheduled this commitment,” he said as part of a public statement released on his social media.
