‘He’s just soft’ – Nick Kyrgios claims ‘the circus was all Tsitsipas’ after Greek’s bullying comments

Nick Kyrgios has doubled down in his position that he did nothing wrong against Stefanos Tsitsipas at Wimbledon on Saturday, claiming any and all antics came from the Greek over him.

Following the match, which Kyrgios won 6-7 (2-7), 6-4, 6-3, 7-6 (9-7), Tsitsipas was called into press first.

Among his comments he labelled Kyrgios a ‘bully’ and claimed the Australian was unable to play ‘without a circus.’

When asked to respond to the bullying comments in his own Wimbledon presser, Kyrgios said: “I’m not sure how I bullied him.

“He was the one hitting balls at me, hitting a spectator.

“I didn’t do anything.

“Apart from me going back and forth with the umpire a bit.

“I didn’t do anything towards Stefanos today that was disrespectful, I don’t think.”

At the end of the second set, after Tsitsipas launched a ball into the crowd Kyrgios implored the chair umpire to default the Greek.

Reports have differed on whether the ball narrowly missed a fan or kit them after ricocheting off a wall.

Later in his press conference Kyrgios declared: “If the roles had been reversed I would have been defaulted, for sure.”

Specifically on the point of the circus Kyrgios continued to insist that all the blame lay with the world number four.

He continued: “I don’t know what he’s talking about.

“The circus was all him.

“He’s got some serious issues.”

Finally, Kyrgios questioned the nerve of Tsitsipas to claim that what Kyrgios did constituted bullying.

To add insult to injury, he even suggested it may be affecting the greek’s game.

He said: “He’s that soft, to come in here and say I bullied him.

“That’s just soft.

“If he was affected by that today, then that’s what’s holding him back.”
