Amanda Anisimova has enjoyed a stellar 2025 campaign on the WTA Tour, reaching multiple Grand Slam finals and securing two WTA 1000 titles.
Anisimova forms part of a strong American contingent on the WTA Tour; at least one American player has reached the final of each Grand Slam in 2025.
Most recently, Anisimova impressed on her way to winning a second WTA 1000 title of the season at the China Open.

The world number four has suffered the disappointment of losing two Grand Slam finals in 2025. However, few would bet against her overcoming this hurdle in the future.
The 24-year-old’s future is bright, and she could be on the verge of achieving something momentous.
Sam Querrey says Amanda Anisimova will be world number one in the next 12 months
Speaking on the ‘Nothing Major’ podcast, former Wimbledon semi-finalist Sam Querrey offered his opinion on Amanda Anisimova’s possible future achievements.
The American, formerly world number 11 on the ATP Tour, said: “I think Amanda Anisimova will hit number one in the world over the next 12 months.”
Former world number 21 Steve Johnson then added: “I think so. Leading into the French next year or even Wimbledon, where she makes the final, she has all of January, February, March with big tournaments. I think she has that ability.”
Anisimova certainly has the tools to reach world number one. Her high-risk, high-reward game style has resulted in a plethora of excellent results against some of the WTA Tour’s very best.
Anisimova already boasts the best backhand on the Tour, and this shot will continue to play a leading role in the American’s success moving forward.
The WTA top five
For all her success on the WTA Tour this year, Amanda Anisimova’s current points total pales in comparison to Aryna Sabalenka’s.
Anisimova is on 5,924 WTA points, 5,476 points behind her Belarusian rival.
The American must first overtake both Iga Swiatek and Coco Gauff, who recently won the Wuhan Open and smashed a tournament record in the process.
| Name | Ranking | Points |
| Aryna Sabalenka | 1 | 10,400 |
| Iga Swiatek | 2 | 8,768 |
| Coco Gauff | 3 | 7,873 |
| Amanda Anisimova | 4 | 5,924 |
| Jessica Pegula | 5 | 5,183 |
Anisimova will have the chance to close the gap to her peers when she competes at the WTA Finals in November. Anisimova has qualified for the tournament for the first time in her career.
