Team World shocked Team Europe with a dominant win at the 2025 Laver Cup, but Reilly Opelka picked up a record he will not be shouting about.
An inspired Taylor Fritz led Team World to victory as they defeated Team Europe 15-9 over three days at San Francisco’s Chase Center.
Alcaraz picked up seven points for Team Europe, but it wasn’t enough to confirm victory for his side as they lost just their third Laver Cup since the inaugural event in 2017.
Despite Team World’s incredible success, Reilly Opelka picked up an unfortunate record at the tournament.

Reilly Opelka now has the worst record in Laver Cup history
Opelka lost both of his matches at the 2025 Laver Cup, losing to Casper Ruud in singles action and to Alcaraz and Ruud in doubles alongside Alex Michelsen.
Those results follow Opelka’s previous two defeats at the 2021 tournament, where he also lost a pair of matches in singles and doubles.
In 2021, Opelka also lost to Ruud before teaming with Denis Shapovalov in a losing effort to Andrey Rublev and Alexander Zverev.
The American giant now has the worst record in Laver Cup history with zero wins and four defeats, taking the record from Hubert Hurkacz, who went 0-3 in 2023.
Opelka can take solace from some of the other names with a 0% record at the Laver Cup, however, as the likes of Andy Murray, Gael Monfils, and Tomas Berdych have also gone winless at the tournament.
Who has won the most matches in Laver Cup history?
On the opposite end of the spectrum, Zverev has picked up the most wins in the Laver Cup, albeit with six appearances in the competition.
The German has played in the tournament from its inaugural edition, missing the competition in 2022 and 2023.
Zverev has won 9 of his 17 matches in the tournament, picking up 21 points for Team Europe to help them win the competition on five occasions.
Team World’s Jack Sock is second to Zverev, winning 20 points for his side but only capturing the tournament once.
