Novak Djokovic and Alex de Minaur were unable to capture the Wimbledon title this year.
Djokovic was beaten by Jannik Sinner in the Wimbledon semi-finals, prolonging his quest for an elusive 25th major.
This was two rounds after the exit of De Minaur, who was very dejected after his defeat to Flavio Cobolli in the fourth round.
Despite failing to reach the quarter-finals at Wimbledon this year, Djokovic’s defeat at Wimbledon has confirmed a breakthrough for De Minaur.

Alex de Minaur confirmed to reach career-high after Novak Djokovic’s loss
De Minaur was at a career-high ranking of world number six coming into Wimbledon this year, where he also lost in the fourth round last year.
After matching his result from the grass court major, De Minaur rose up to world number five in the live rankings after Ben Shelton lost in the first round of Wimbledon.
This meant that only Djokovic could have prevented De Minaur making his top five debut, which he would have done had he beaten Sinner.
However, following Djokovic’s defeat, De Minaur is now confirmed to reach his career-high ranking when the rankings are updated after Wimbledon.
How many combined major titles will Felix Auger-Aliassime, Casper Ruud, Alex de Minaur and Frances Tiafoe win in their careers?
All four players missed out on a golden opportunity to win the French Open…
It is not all bad for Djokovic, who will also climb one spot in the ranking to world number seven after Taylor Fritz dropped three spots.
Alexander Zverev will overtake Carlos Alcaraz in the ATP rankings
De Minaur and Djokovic are not the only two players in the top 10 to have been impacted by results in the Wimbledon semi-finals.
Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz have been the two dominant forces on the ATP Tour in recent years, with the latter even world number one as recent as in April last year.
However, Alcaraz has been on the side-lines due to a wrist injury in recent months, which forced him to withdraw from both Roland Garros and Wimbledon.
As a result, Alcaraz was unable to defend his points from winning titles in Rome, Roland Garros, Queen’s and reaching the final of Wimbledon.
Who will win the Wimbledon final? Jannik Sinner or Alexander Zverev
The top two seeds collide!
Following Alexander Zverev beating Arthur Fery to reach his first Wimbledon final, it has now been confirmed that he will overtake Alcaraz as the new world number two.
There is still some distance between Zverev and world number one Sinner though, and even if he beats him in the Wimbledon final, there will still be over 3,000 points separating the two players.
