Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray absent, whilst Dominic Thiem features as ATP Cup teams announced
With the teams and groups for the upcoming ATP Cup announced, Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray are absent whilst Dominic Thiem is set to return from injury.
All three of 20-time Grand Slam champion Nadal, two-time Grand Slam champion Andy Murray and 2020 US Open champion Dominic Thiem will play at the Abu Dhabi Exhibition event this month.
Murray and Thiem will face each other in the first round and the winner of the two will then face Nadal in the next round.
Nadal and Thiem are both looking to make returns from injuries that ruled them out for the latter half of the 2021 season. Nadal suffered from a resurfaced foot injury, whilst Thiem injured his wrist and missed Wimbledon, the rescheduled 2020 Tokyo Olympics and the US Open.
Both Murray and Nadal will miss the ATP Cup.
The ATP Cup will feature 18 of the top 20 players in the world, boasting names like Novak Djokovic, Daniil Medvedev, Alexander Zverev and Stefanos Tsitsipas to name but a few.
