‘Look for f**k’s sake!’ – Alexander Zverev erupts in doubles, ejected from Acapulco

World number three Alexander Zverev will not retain his Acapulco title after his doubles tirade forced the event to remove him from the tournament.

The ATP Finals champion won ugly against Jenson Brooksby in the first round of the singles, and would have faced fellow countryman Peter Gojowczyk for a place in the quarter-finals.

However, after Zverev went a step too far in anger at a call on the way to losing in the doubles, the 24-year-old was defaulted from the singles.

Following a serve from Zverev’s partner Marcelo Melo at 6-8 in a match tiebreak, Harri Heliovaara retuned a ball that Melo and Zverev saw as wide but was called in by the line judge.

In pleading with the chair umpire, Zverev went on an expletive-laden rant at him.

“Look where the ball bounced!” He shouted.

“For f**k’s sake! It’s f**king your line!’

After Zverev received a code violation for audible obscenity, the pair went on to lose the match, at which point the German turned to physical threats, as seen below.

As a result, Gojowczyk receives a walkover against Zverev and faces either Cameron Norrie or John Isner in the quarter-finals.
