‘Keep going for it!’ – Billie Jean King personally congratulates Ons Jabeur on historic achievement

Multiple Grand Slam singles champion Billie Jean King is the latest to praise Ons Jabeur for her groundbreaking achievement of reaching the world’s top-10.

The Tunisian secured her spot among the WTA top-10 by defeating Anett Kontaveit to reach the semi-finals of Indian Wells.

As such, Jabeur has become the first ever Arab player, man or woman, to crack the top-10.

The 27-year-old has received words of support from all corners of the tennis scene. Now, the legendary Billie Jean King has added her message to the star.

“To Ons, thank you for being such an inspiration for all of us and especially Arabs,” King wrote in a signed copy of her autobiography ‘All In’ for Jabeur.  “Keep going for it!”

The achievement has not come easy for Jabeur in 2021. Nobody has more wins than her on the WTA tour this year. The Tunisian boasts a win-loss record of 48-17.

Before 2021, Jabeur did not have a WTA title to her name, having lost in two finals previously. But that changed at the Birmingham Classic WTA 250 in June, where she defeated Daria Kasatkina to lift the trophy.

Jabeur had also previously reached three WTA 1000 quarter-finals, but never further. She has now bettered that career-best by reaching the Indian Wells semi-finals, and faces Paula Badosa for a final berth.
