Impressive Iga Swiatek stat highlights her biggest WTA Finals threat
Iga Swiatek has only lost one match the seven other WTA Finals qualifiers this season as she heads into Fort Worth as heavy favourite.
The world number one is resting ahead of the WTA Finals as her colleagues battled it out in Guadalajara to earn their place in Texas. But rest trumps match play for Swiatek right now given her results against the tour finals field.
Specifically, Swiatek is 19-1 against the other competitors that will take to the court in Fort Worth. Moreover, that includes a 13-0 record on hard courts. She has beaten six of the seven at least twice this season, except for Cincinnati Open champion Caroline Garcia. In fact, the Frenchwoman won their only meeting in 2022 on the clay of Warsaw in the quarter-finals.
Otherwise this year, Iga Swiatek is 4-0 against Daria Kasatkina, 4-0 over Aryna Sabalenka, 2-0 versus Maria Sakkari, 4-0 facing Jessica Pegula, 3-0 against Coco Gauff, and 2-0 facing Ons Jabeur.
The Pole is 64-8 on the season, an 89% win percentage, with eight titles to her name including the French Open and US Open. She debuted at the WTA Finals in 2021 as the fifth qualifer. She did not make it past the round robin stage, winning one match over Paula Badosa 7-5, 6-4.
