Alexander Zverev did not hit the most aces on his run to the Roland Garros title this year.

Zverev won his first Grand Slam title in Paris this year, culminating in his victory in the final over Flavio Cobolli.

The German has one of the best serves on the ATP Tour, with Zverev producing 55 aces in his seven matches en route to the Roland Garros title.

Despite winning more matches than any other player in Paris, Zverev actually hit fewer aces than a player who competed in just two matches at Roland Garros this year.

Hubert Hurkacz hit the most aces at Roland Garros this year

Hubert Hurkacz hit more aces than any other player at Roland Garros this year, despite only playing two matches at the clay court major.

Hurkacz is a former Wimbledon semi-finalist and has been ranked as high as world number six, but has struggled over the past year after undergoing surgery on his right knee.

The Pole made a strong start in his return to the ATP Tour at the start of the 2026 season, which included Hurkacz beating Zverev at the United Cup.

However, Hurkacz has struggled to continue this form, despite reaching the final of a clay court Challenger tournament in Caligari, Italy.

Hurkacz won his first match at Roland Garros since 2024 this year after beating Jaume Munar, in a match where he hit 16 aces.

He would then lose his next match to Frances Tiafoe in five sets, but Hurkacz was able to produce a staggering 43 aces in the four hours and 43 minutes he spent on court.

This means that Hurkacz hit a total of 59 aces at Roland Garros this year, which is three ahead of second-placed Zachary Svajda, and four ahead of eventual champion Zverev and quarter-finalist Felix Auger-Aliassime.

Perhaps the more remarkable statistic is the number of aces Hurkacz hit per match, having produced an average of 29.5 in the two matches he played at the clay court major.

Which ATP player has hit the most aces so far in 2026?

Hurkacz also stands in a strong position throughout the entire 2026 season, having hit the sixth most aces in tour-level matches this year, despite only playing 20 matches.

This list is led by Zverev, who has hit 374 aces across the 44 matches he has played this year.

Some of the other players to have hit the most aces in 2026 include Jakub Mensik, Taylor Fritz and world number one Jannik Sinner.

However, the player who has hit the most aces per match from the top 10 is American Reilly Opelka, who has hit over 20 aces in the 14 matches he has played on tour this year.

Many of these players will be threats at Wimbledon, with big serving being rewarded much more on grass compared to clay.

Hurkacz is set to drop outside of the top 100 after his most recent defeat, but as the Wimbledon cut-off was before his fall, he will still have direct entry into The Championships.
