Grigor Dimitrov has missed months of tennis after cruelly having to withdraw from his Wimbledon match against Jannik Sinner, but the star has been confirmed for an upcoming tournament.
Dimitrov was two sets up against Sinner in the round of 16 of Wimbledon and looked all but certain to knock the then-World No. 1 out.
A pectoral issue while serving meant the star had to withdraw from the match, and Dimitrov pulled out of the US Open and the Shanghai Masters in the aftermath.
After months on the shelf, the Bulgarian has been confirmed for a 2026 tournament that he’s previously won.

The first array of acts for the 2026 Mexican Open has been announced, and Dimitrov’s name is listed alongside some big names.
Lorenzo Musetti, Alexander Zverev, Ben Shelton, Frances Tiafoe, Flavio Cobolli, Casper Ruud, and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina are advertised alongside Dimitrov.
The hard court tournament is an ATP 500 and Dimitrov has previous at the tournament, having captured the title in 2014.
The Bulgarian won the first tournament after the Mexican competition switched from clay courts to hard courts.
The star defeated Andy Murray, Kevin Anderson, Ernests Gulbis, and Marcos Baghdatis to lift one of his nine career titles.
It is unclear yet whether this will be Dimitrov’s first tournament back from injury, or if the star will compete at the Australian Open.
Grigor Dimitrov announces huge change during injury break
While taking time out from tennis, the Bulgarian announced a huge change to his coaching team before his comeback.
The star confirmed he would no longer be working with Jamie Delgado, who had previously worked with Murray.
“After a few years and great achievements together, Jamie Delgado and I have decided to part ways amicably. I wish him the best in his future endeavours,” said Dimitrov on social media.
“I’m excited to start fresh after this time I’ve dedicated fully to my recovery. I’m looking forward to coming back to play soon,” he added.
