Greg Rusedski has returned to Wimbledon this year as a coach.
Rusedski is the coach of Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, the Frenchman who hit the fastest serve in Wimbledon history last year.
It did not go so well for Mpetshi Perricard this year, who lost in the first round of Wimbledon to Yannick Hanfmann.
Following his player’s defeat, Rusedski has revealed what he has been told about the grass courts at Wimbledon this year.

Greg Rusedski reveals that players have been saying Wimbledon courts are slower
Rusedski spoke about the Wimbledon courts in the latest edition of his ‘Off Court with Greg Rusedski‘, where he revealed that players had been saying that the grass courts have been slower this year.
The former US Open finalist then mentioned world number one Jannik Sinner, who Rusedski claimed was overhitting as a result of the slower courts at Wimbledon.
“I have been talking to the players in the restaurants today,” said Rusedski. “A lot of the French players and the other players and everyone is saying how slow the grass courts are this year.
“They said conditions are super slow this week compared to what they have had in the lead up. Yes, conditions will get hot in the second week and that will change things. But right now for the baseliners it is working really, really well because they are having more time.
“Maybe that could be one of the reasons why Sinner is trying to overhit the ball a little bit, as you have to let those points progress longer, while in the second week you won’t have to do so.”

How Jannik Sinner’s winner and ace count compares to 2025 so far?
Sinner beat Nuno Borges in straight sets to reach the third round of Wimbledon, in a much more comfortable victory than his five set win over Miomir Kecmanovic in the first round.
Despite not winning as convincingly as he did at Wimbledon last year, Sinner has actually hit both more aces and overall winners in his first two rounds.
In his first two rounds at Wimbledon in 2025, Sinner had hit 21 aces and 66 winners, whereas so far this year he has hit a combined 53 aces and 119 winners.
Sinner has played longer matches in his first two rounds this year, but he has still also hit a greater number of aces and winners per set.
| Jannik Sinner at Wimbledon | R1 and R2 in 2025 (6 sets) | R1 and R2 in 2026 (8 sets) |
| Aces | 21 (Average of 3.5 per set) | 53 (Average of 6.6 per set) |
| Overall Winners | 66 (Average of 11 per set) | 119 (Average of 14.9 per set) |
However, Sinner has also hit a greater number of unforced errors, with 81 in his first two rounds this year, which is a huge 53 more than in 2026.
Sinner will be hoping to lower his unforced error count for his next match at Wimbledon, where he will play against Jenson Brooksby.
