EMMA RADUCANU US Open 2021

Emma Raducanu will return to action at Indian Wells

US Open champion Emma Raducanu has been handed a wildcard entry to the 2021 event in California, USA, beginning 6th October.

The news was expected following the British teens Slam success, as she will make her WTA 1000 debut out in the desert.

The BNP Paribas Open will be just a sixth WTA tour level event for the 18-year-old, having made her tour debut at the Viking Open Nottingham back in June.

The tournament announced the wildcard invitation on their Twitter account, captioning the statement “A desert debut you won’t want to miss.”

Currently ranked at 22 in the world, Raducanu is in with a shot at qualifying for the season-ending WTA tour finals in Guadalajara, Mexico.

A combination of withdrawals and good results in the coming months could see the Brit sneak in among the eight competitors.

Beyond Indian Wells, Raducanu has been entered into the Kremlin Cup in Moscow, Russia, and the Transylvanian Open in Romania, both played in October.
