Emma Raducanu signs up for two exhibition events during WTA off-season

Emma Raducanu has added a further two events to her debut WTA season schedule, both being exhibitions taking place in November and December.

The US Open champion has already entered three more WTA tour events before ending her 2021 season.

Raducanu plans to play the WTA 500 Kremlin Cup in Moscow, the WTA 250 Transylvania Open in Romania, and the WTA 250 Linz Open in Austria.

Now, the teenage sensation will take to the court at the Champion Tennis event in London at the end of November, plus the Mubadala World Tennis Championship in Abu Dhabi come mid-December.

Royal Albert Hall hosts the London event, and includes legends like former British number one Greg Rusedski and 2001 Wimbledon champion Goran Ivanisevic.

Raducanu will face an as-of-yet undecided opponent on 28th November, the fourth day of the event. Her management company, IMG, organises the event.

Moving to the Middle East, Raducanu will compete from 16-18th December at the Zayed Sports City. The event began in 2009, with women first competing in 2017. It was not held in 2020 due to the Covid pandemic.

“I’ve never been to Abu Dhabi (in the United Arab Emirates) and can’t wait to go and play in the championship,” Raducanu said.

“I know the UAE is celebrating its 50th anniversary at the beginning of December. So, I’m sure it’s going to be amazing there and I’m excited to experience everything the country has to offer both at the event and culturally.”

Previous competitors on the women’s side have been 2017 Roland Garros champion Jelena Ostapenko, both Venus and Serena Williams, Ajla Tomljanovic and five-time Slam champion Maria Sharapova.
