Emma Raducanu impressed by ‘incredible’ Carlos Alcaraz journey
Emma Raducanu has described the rise of fellow teen sensation Carlos Alcaraz as “incredible” stating that he is a “very exciting” player to watch on the men’s tour.
The 18-year-old Spaniard has been in red hot form, rising through the rankings following record-breaking title wins at both the Rio Open in February and at the Miami Open.
The man from Murcia has climbed to world number nine following his fourth career ATP title in Barcelona, becoming the ninth youngest ever player to breach the top ten rankings.
Alcaraz is now one of the leading contenders for this week’s Madrid Masters as well as being tipped for a deep run at the French Open later this month.
Many fellow pro’s on tour and pundits have also stated he has all the right ingredients to reach the very top of the men’s game.
Similarly, Emma Raducanu has also had a meteoric rise through the rankings after becoming the first ever qualifier to win a Grand Slam as she won the US Open without dropping a set back in September.
When asked about Alcaraz’s journey, Emma Raducanu expressed how impressed she was by not just his performances on the court but also his temperament away from it.
Speaking to Eurosport about the career of Carlos Alcaraz so far, the British starlet said, “I think what he is doing is incredible.
“But it is even more impressive how genuine and kind he is off the court.
“It is incredible how he is able to practically take the racket out of his opponent’s hand, it is definitely very exciting.”
