Emma Raducanu ‘extremely grateful’ as she punctuates end of her 2021 season

Emma Raducanu ended her 2021 WTA season at the Upper Austria Ladies Linz event, since addressing her fans thanking them for their support.

The US Open champion had a rollercoaster summer as she reached the fourth round at Wimbledon before her miraculous New York triumph.

Those came mere weeks after her WTA tour debut in June, only landing her first WTA tour win after the US Open.

She played a further three events following New York, accumulating a 2-3 win-loss record as she began her journey adjusting to life on the tour.

Now, with her 2021 season at an end and looking ahead to 2022, Raducanu reflected on the year that has been.

“Wow, that was some year,” she captioned an image on Twitter. “Two pictures to sum up my 2021 season.

“I want to say thank you and that I’m extremely grateful for your generous support.

“I’ve learnt many things at a fast pace on this incredible journey but all I can say is that I’m very excited & motivated for my next steps.”

The image is of Raducanu laid out after her US Open title win, with a bleeding bandaged knee sustained during the match.

The 19-year-old Brit will appear in two exhibition events in 2021 before the start of her competitive season in 2022.

One is at the Champions Tennis event in London on 28th November, while the other is at the Mubadala World Tennis Championships in Abu Dhabi in mid-December.
