Daniil Medvedev routs John Isner to secure another Canada Masters final
Daniil Medvedev is into back-to-back finals at the Canadian Masters as he seeks a fourth ATP 1000 level crown to add to his collection.
Isner was hoping to make a sixth career Masters 1000 final, but Medvedev had other ideas as they stepped out onto court in Toronto to duke it out for victory.
The number one seed made short work of the powerful American, claiming victory 6-2, 6-2 in under an hour on-court.
Medvedev has now reached five Masters 1000 finals, including a runner-up spot at the last Canadian Masters in 2019, when the Russian fell to Rafael Nadal.
The world number two was quite impervious behind his serve, winning 27 of 30 points (90%) on first serve across the match.
Meanwhile, Medvedev was able to nullify Isner’s primary weapon. The American could only win 61% of points on first serve and was severely punished on his second, winning just two of 12 points behind it (17%).
The Russian will face a similar opponent in world number 32 Reilly Opelka for the title, a debutant in a Masters final.
