The eighth Laver Cup is set to get underway as Team Europe take on Team World at the Chase Center in San Francisco.

Andre Agassi leads Team World in the Laver Cup for the first time against Yannick Noah’s Team Europe, as the likes of Alexander Zverev, Taylor Fritz, and Alex De Minaur star in the Ryder Cup-style tournament.

Carlos Alcaraz follows in Rafael Nadal’s footsteps at the Laver Cup as he returns to action for the first time since his triumphant US Open win.

Ahead of the clash, Todd Woodbridge has tipped one Team World star to ruffle Team Europe’s feathers in a similar way to Nick Kyrgios.

Todd Woodbridge thinks Reilly Opelka will ‘antagonise’ Team Europe at the Laver Cup

Todd Woodbridge has kept a close eye on Team World ahead of the Laver Cup and believes one star could be key to them upsetting Team Europe.

Speaking about Reilly Opelka on Australian Open TV, Todd Woodbridge said: “He has been here before, and he is dangerous for this team. He is going to have to play a pivotal part.”

“He doesn’t mind saying a few words here and there and antagonising,” continued the multi-time Grand Slam champion.

“I think they need an antagoniser in this team to rock the boat a little bit,” he added. “We used to have Kyrgios, who was able to do that. Maybe Opelka is that kind of guy in this team.”

Kyrgios appeared at four Laver Cup events between 2017 and 2021, picking up seven points from nine matches.

Who has won the Laver Cup the most?

The 2025 edition will be the eighth time Team World have met Team Europe in the event initially launched in 2017.

Europe won the first four ties until back-to-back wins in 2022 and 2023 earned Team World their place on the board.

Team Europe won the last meeting in Berlin in 2024, thanks to three matches and eight points won by Carlos Alcaraz.

The 2025 edition will be the first meeting in the USA since the 2021 tournament took place at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.
