Corentin Moutet came up short against Daniil Medvedev in the final of the Almaty Open, and it has extended an unfortunate statistic for the Frenchman.
Medvedev secured victory at the Almaty Open in a competitive three-set match that truly could have gone either way.
The Frenchman took the second set and had his chances to lift his very first ATP Tour trophy at the Almaty Open.
After his loss, Moutet has extended an unfortunate record that no other current player on the tour can come close to.

Corentin Moutet has lost all three of his ATP finals
The Frenchman’s loss to Medvedev in Almaty is his third consecutive loss in a final without securing a victory.
The star has reached three finals since 2020 at the Qatar Open, Mallorca Championships, and now the Almaty Open.
Moutet lost his first final in Qatar against Andrey Rublev in straight sets and he met the same fate against Tallon Griekspoor earlier this summer.
The star’s third final loss means Moutet is the only player to have lost multiple finals without achieving a victory.
Moutet has some way to go to reach Julien Benneteau’s unwanted record of 10 finals without a single win.
The worst final records in ATP Tour history
Benneteau is the only player to end his career with a 100% loss record in finals, but plenty of other players have bad records.
Pat Dupre only won one of his 10 finals in the 1970s and 1980s, while Jarkko Nieminen managed the slightly better record of two wins from 13 finals.
Elsewhere, the likes of Karl Meiler, Byron Black, and Olivier Rochus all have negative records in finals across their careers.
Moutet will be hoping he can pick up a win in the near future so he doesn’t follow in the footsteps of Benneteau.
