The majority of tennis players lose more finals than they win, but one unfortunate star has a 0% record in ATP final events.
Julien Benneteau reached 10 final events between 2008 and 2014, but came up short on every single occasion.
The former World No. 25, who won a Grand Slam in doubles, was never able to get over the line as a singles competitor.
Some extremely accomplished players defeated Benneteau in the final as the Frenchman struggled to one of the most unfortunate records in tennis.

The players that defeated Julien Benneteau in 10 ATP finals
Benneteau impressively reached an ATP final every year between 2008 and 2014, but could never find a way to lift the trophy.
The Frenchman lost to Gilles Simon, Robin Soderling, and Guillermo Garcia Lopez in his first three finals, with two of them going to a deciding set.
Benneteau took the opening set in two of his finals, against John Isner at Winston-Salem and Joao Sousa at the Malaysia Open, but he was still unable to win the match.
The star’s last final saw him lose to Kei Nishikori at the Malaysia Open in September 2014 to see him reach double figures without a final win.
Benneteau retired in 2018 after 18 years of tennis, but he holds no regrets about a career that saw him win no singles titles.
What did Julien Benneteau say about his unfortunate record
Despite the unfortunate record, Benneteau holds no qualms about being one of tennis’ more unique stories.
Speaking to CNN, the Frenchman pointed to his success outside of singles events as a reason not to be too disheartened about his final record.
“Even if I didn’t win a singles title, because I lived a lot of magic moments in doubles and in Davis Cup, for me there is no emptiness in my career,” he explained.
Benneteau won the Davis Cup in France in 2017 with a team that included Lucas Pouille, Richard Gasquet, and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
