Carlos Alcaraz into Paris quarter-finals with 90th career win
Carlos Alcaraz has made it a step further at the Paris Masters than he did in 2021 after a dominant performance against Grigor Dimitrov.ย
The world number one defeated the tour veteran 6-1, 6-3 in just 72 minutes on Court Central in Bercy. It was a first career meeting between Alcaraz and Dimitrov.
The Spaniard raced into the lead by winning nine of the first 10 games before the Bulgarian broke back to bring the contest to 3-3 in the second set. But Alcaraz responded in kind before completing the victory.
The 19-year-old now has a career tour-level record of 90-30 for a win percentage of 75%. He also betters his debut appearance in Paris last year when he suffered a tough loss to home youngster Hugo Gaston in front of a raucous partisan crowd.

Moreover, Carlos Alcaraz has now reached five Masters 1000 quarter-finals in his career, all in 2022. A third title at 1000 level this week would confirm him as year-end number one before the ATP Finals even kick off in Turin.
Alcaraz awaits the victor of fellow ATP Finals qualifier Andrey Rublev and Next Gen Finals contender Holger Rune. The Spaniard has never faced Rublev, whereas he faced Rune in the round robin of last year’s Next Gen Finals, winning 4-3, 4-2, 4-0.
