Carlos Alcaraz axes Sebastian Baez to complete top-seeded ATP Next Gen final

The top two seeds will do battle for the Next Gen ATP Finals title after Carlos Alcaraz joined Sebastian Korda in the final.

The top seed faced surprise package Sebastian Baez in the second semi-final in Milan.

Alcaraz had dropped just one set in three matches prior to facing the Argentine.

And that intensity continued from the Spaniard as he went 4-2, 4-1 up in just 40 minutes on-court.

Baez looked as though he might force a tiebreak in the third while serving at 2-3 40-30.

However, Alcaraz hit back for two points in row to win 4-2, 4-1, 4-2 in barely an hour and face Korda in the final.

“I knew I had to play really aggressively,” Alcaraz explained in his on-court interview.

“[Baez] has been playing at a great level during this week…Just a really good game from my side.”

As a result, the Next Gen ATP Finals is guaranteed an undefeated champion, as both Alcaraz and Korda are yet to lose in Milan. It will be a first ever meeting between the two men.

“I know it’s going to be really tough,” Alcaraz said of the final match-up. [Korda] has been playing great tennis during the year.

“I’m really excited to play him for the first time. For me it would be amazing to get the title.

“But, I have a really good opponent in front of me. So, let’s see.”
