Bublik clinches victory to reach second Masters quarter-final of 2021
Alexander Bublik has made the quarter-finals at the Madrid Masters with an impressive display against in-form breakout player Aslan Karatsev.
Alexander Bublik dispatched the Russian 6-4, 6-3 in efficient fashion, taking just 74 minutes to do so.
With this triumph, the world No. 44 reaches his second Masters 1000 quarter-final of 2021 and second of his career overall. Prior to the 2021 season, Bublik had never progressed past the round of 64 at a Masters 1000 event.
During the match, Bublik won 79% of points behind his first serve, and notably saved a number of break points, surrendering just 1 of 8 opportunities presented to Karatsev. By contrast, Bublik claimed 3 of his 7 break point chances.
