After parting ways with Wim Fissette, Iga Swiatek has hired Spaniard Francisco Roig.
Swiatek worked with Fissette for 17 months, winning a first Wimbledon Ladies Singles title under his tenure.
However, after a difficult start to the year, Swiatek decided to move on from Fissette and hire Emma Raducanu’s former coach.
How many Grand Slam titles will Iga Swiatek win with Francisco Roig as her coach?
She's signed one of the best coaches on tour!
Roig, who was a staple of Rafael Nadal’s coaching team for 17 years, most recently worked with Giovanni Mpetshi-Perricard.
Boris Becker, a six-time Grand Slam champion, has weighed in on Swiatek’s decision to hire Roig.
Boris Becker thinks Iga Swiatek has made a ‘good choice’ in hiring Francisco Roig
Francisco Roig played a pivotal role in the career of Rafael Nadal.

Roig, the former world number 60, worked within Nadal’s coaching team between 2005 and 2022.
During that period, Nadal won 22 Grand Slam titles.
Becker, a three-time Wimbledon champion, is most certainly a fan of Francisco Roig, suggesting that Iga Swiatek has made the right choice in hiring the Spanish coach.
“Love Rafa [Nadal], the best there ever was – certainly on clay!” Becker [pictured below] said in a post on X.

“Also respect Francisco Roig! I have met him many times and love talking tennis with him!
“Good choice Iga!”
After losing to Magda Linette in Miami, Swiatek returned to the Rafael Nadal Academy in Mallorca.
Swiatek, a graduate of the academy, reportedly returned to Manacor to train on clay and begin a trial with Roig.
The trial evidently went well, and the pair are now set to work together for the foreseeable future.
Does Iga Swiatek now win the French Open after changing coaches? 🤔

Will Iga Świątek win the French Open this year?
Swiatek has been in poor form to start the year.
The Pole is yet to win a WTA title and has suffered multiple early exits: including against Maria Sakkari in Qatar and Magda Linette in Qatar.
However, to underestimate Iga Swiatek on the clay would be a mistake.
Swiatek is a four-time French Open champion; and while the Polish star has struggled to capture her best form in recent months, the hiring of Roig could be the spark needed to turn around her season.

Of course, winning Roland Garros will be easier said than done with the likes of Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina looking to win their first titles at the event.
But when in her best form, Swiatek is the best clay-court player on Tour by a significant margin.
If Swiatek can recapture this form, she will take some stopping in Paris.
