Iga Swiatek hires Francisco Roig as her new coach
It was reported last week that Francisco Roig could become Swiatek’s new coach.
Those reports have now been confirmed by French outlet L’Equipe.
“Several Polish media outlets reported that the four-time French Open champion would be traveling to Rafael Nadal’s academy in Manacor to train on clay and begin a trial with Francisco Roig,” they said.
“This information was also published by the Belgian media outlet Jeu Set et Podcast, which we have been able to confirm.”

Roig was last seen on the WTA Tour with Emma Raducanu, coaching the Briton for six months before their partnership ended in January.
He then moved over to the ATP Tour, working with the big-serving Frenchman, Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard.
Given that Mpetshi Perricard lost his last two matches, it might not have taken Roig too much convincing to leave that role for a position in Swiatek’s team.
After all, the Pole is a six-time Grand Slam champion…

From Wimbledon glory to Miami Open embarrassment – The Iga Swiatek/Wim Fissette timeline
During a recent interview, Swiatek shared when she knew it was time to move on from Fissette.
“It was not a decision made in Miami; it was a longer process.
“During the tournament in Doha, I realized that I don’t feel as good on the court as before.
“After the defeat to Maria Sakkari, we sat down and talked for a long time. We were wondering what to change and how to approach the next week so that I could get back to my solid game.

“And indeed, before Indian Wells, we made some steps forward. But when I took the whole thing into account, I came to the conclusion that I needed a change.”
