Australian Open draw: Novak Djokovic plays compatriot and Andy Murray faces rematch

Novak Djokovic will face fellow Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic while Andy Murray takes on Nikoloz Basilashvili for the second time in as many weeks.

While the world number one could yet miss the Australian Open due to his ongoing visa issues, he is in the men’s singles draw as top seed and takes on the world number 78 22-year-old.

Rafael Nadal will play American Marcos Giron as he looks to continue his form after winning the ATP 250 Melbourne Summer Set to kick off his 2022 season.

Murray will face the Georgian Basilashvili for a third time having won their last two meetings, including this week at the Sydney Tennis Classic.

US Open champion Daniil Medvedev will take on Switzerland’s Henri Laaksonen, while world number three Alexander Zverev will play another German in 91st ranked Daniel Altmaier.

Roland Garros finalist Stefanos Tsitsipas will play Sweden’s Mikael Ymer while Wimbledon finalist Matteo Berrettini will battle American youngster Brandon Nakashima.

In the women’s draw, world number one Ashleigh Barty is yet to learn her opponent, an as yet undecided qualifier.

Naomi Osaka will begin her title defence against young Colombian talent Camila Osorio, and Roland Garros champion Barbora Krejcikova plays German veteran Andrea Petkovic.

Emma Raducanu will be seeded for the first time at a Slam, but still takes on a former Major winner in 2017 US Open champion Sloan Stephens in the opening round.

WTA Finals winner Garbine Muguruza faces Clara Burel of France, and world number two Aryna Sabalenka will play home wildcard Storm Sanders.
