Andre Agassi is delighted to enlist Alex De Minaur into his 2025 Laver Cup squad following the withdrawal of Frances Tiafoe.

Carlos Alcaraz will lead Team Europe at the Laver Cup under captain Yannick Noah against a Team World led by Andre Agassi.

The event, taking place in San Francisco, will be the eighth Laver Cup after its introduction onto the tour in 2017.

Agassi has previously praised De Minaur for his work on the tennis court, dating back all the way to the start of 2024.

Andre Agassi is a huge fan of Alex De Minaur after 2025 Laver Cup addition

Agassi was delighted to introduce the Australian into the fold for the first Laver Cup where he is acting as team captain.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to add one of the best and most in-form players in the world to our team,” said Team World captain Agassi about De Minaur joining the team.

“I’ve admired the way Alex plays and competes from afar and now look forward to having a front row seat to watching him perform,” he explained.

Agassi has long been a fan of The Demon and it’s no surprise the American great has opted to draft in the Australian.

Speaking to Men’s Health Australia in 2024, the eight-time Grand Slam champion said: “De Minaur, I mean, that guy could run on water it seems.”

The icon added: “The way he skids across the court, his competitiveness, and he never stops bouncing around.”

De Minaur will play his second Laver Cup tie after making his debut at The O2 Arena in 2022, which saw him beat Andy Murray.

Who is playing in the 2025 Laver Cup?

The Laver Cup is always a star-studded event, with the likes of Murray, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic previously playing the competition.

Roger Federer retired at the event in 2024, after playing alongside Nadal in the doubles, and this year Alcaraz will make his Laver Cup debut.
