Alexandra Eala and Nick Kyrgios now know who they will play in the first round of the Wimbledon doubles draws.

Eala could play Serena Williams in singles at Wimbledon this year, as they were drawn to potentially play each other in the second round.

The Filipina will also play in the doubles tournament alongside Nikola Bartunkova, who she played with at the Birmingham Open.

Kyrgios, who did not receive a singles wildcard for Wimbledon this year, is playing doubles with Alexander Bublik, but his Championships could be short-lived after the draw was announced.

Alexandra Eala and Nick Kyrgios both have seeded opponents in the doubles draws at Wimbledon

Eala and Bartunkova lost their only doubles match at the Birmingham Open earlier this month, and they will be hoping not to make it back-to-back losses at Wimbledon.

However, they will be up against it at Wimbledon, as they have been drawn to play against eighth seeds and the singles Grand Slam champion pairing of Sofia Kenin and Jelena Ostapenko.

This is also only the second tournament where Kenin and Ostapenko have ever played together, having reached the quarter-finals in Eastbourne before withdrawing.

Ostapenko and Kenin have achieved most of their doubles success with other partners, which includes the former winning the US Open women’s doubles title in 2024 with Lyudmila Kichenok.

Kyrgios and Bublik will also play against seeded opponents in the first round, as they take on sixth seeds Mate Pavic and Marcelo Arevalo.

Unlike Kyrgios and Bublik, Pavic and Arevalo are a very experienced pairing and have won eight titles together, including Roland Garros in 2024.

Although they have not won a major title in over two years, Pavic and Arevalo are coming into Wimbledon in good form after winning their eighth title together at Queen’s.

Who are Serena and Venus Williams playing in the first round of Wimbledon?

While Eala and Kyrgios are two of the biggest names in the doubles draws at Wimbledon this year, they are perhaps overshadowed by the return of Serena and Venus Williams.

The Williams sisters have won six Wimbledon doubles titles together in their career, and they will be bidding for their seventh this year.

As they reunite on court at Wimbledon, Serena and Venus Williams will play against the duo of Solana Sierra and Camila Osorio.

Sierra and Osorio are a scratch pairing for Wimbledon this year, while the Williams sisters have decades of experience to fall back on.

The singles main draw at Wimbledon this year begins on Monday, June 29, before doubles action starts on Wednesday, July 1.
