BREAKING NEWS: Serbian former World No.8 retires from tennis
Janko Tipsarevic, winner of 4 ATP Tour titles and a former ATP top 10 player, has retired from professional tennis today
Janko Tipsarevic, now a writer for tennishead, will play his last matches of professional tennis at the Davis Cup later this year and then he’ll devote his time to his family, his new tennis academies around the world and also coaching.
Tipsarevic has said of his decision, “After a lot of soul searching and thinking what is important to me in this stage of my life and what does make me happy,I have decided to retire from professional tennis”.

During his glittering career he won over $8m in prize money and reached the Quarter Finals of the US Open twice in 2011 and 2012. He also played the ATP World Tour Finals in both those years where the Top 8 players form the year come together to play for the title of ATP World Tour Finals champion.
In recent years the Serb has suffered with a series of injuries and has not competed much on the tour since 2017.
In 2010, he was the hero of the Davis Cup final for Serbia leading the Serbian team into their first Davis Cup final after prevailing over Radek Štěpánek to complete the 1–2 come-from-behind victory to help clinch the tie 3–2 over the Czech Republic. They went on to win the final.
