The Campus delivers British success on the ITF circuit
Great Britain’s No.12 and 492 in the world Evan Hoyt cruised to victory at the recent $15,000 ITF tournament hosted at Portugal’s 5 Star resort Quinta do Lago
This was the 2nd year that the tournament has been hosted at the newly refurbished The Campus and the crowds were treated to some high quality tennis in the opulent surroundings.
The player feedback was also positive with special mention for the infrastructure, organization and all the staff. In fact many players commented that this was one of the best tournaments of this category (M15) they play around the world.
Ze Lopes, Head Tennis coach for The Campus was on hand all week to witness the play and he commented “The quality of the tennis was exceptional, tough matches, long and powerful rallies and also very physical. The catering was exceptional, there was a private players lounge, and also access to the high performance gym for the players to recover and also use the spa areas.”
Hoyt was drawn against top seed Dragos Dima of Romania in the first round but managed to fight his way to a 3 set victory which set up the British youngster for a great run to the final. The 24 year old Hoyt was actually born in Mexico but now calls the green hills of Wales as his home. In the final he faced French No. 8 seed Manual Guinard where he came through in 2 sets to secure the victory and the winners trophy.
