Grigor Dimitrov Indian Wells 2021

WATCH: Grigor Dimitrov hits incredible volley on way to 100th career Masters win

Grigor Dimitrov came from a set down to overcome his opponent and reach the semi-finals of Indian Wells.

The former world number three has backed up his brilliant comeback win over US Open champion Daniil Medvedev.

Like against Medvedev, Dimitrov went a set down to Miami Open champion Hubert Hurkacz in their quarter-final meeting.

But again the Bulgarian talent rallied to claim victory 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-2) and book his place in a first Indian Wells semi-final.

Dimitrov displayed his awesome athletic capabilities in the third set with this brilliant volley to save break point.

With the victory, the Bulgarian reached the semi-finals of a Masters 1000 for the first time in two years. His last came at the 2019 Paris Masters.

Dimitrov has won a Masters 1000 title before, at Cincinnati in 2017. He entered Indian Wells with a 96-73 record at Masters level, his win over Hurkacz making it a round 100 victories.

The world number 28 previously beat Reilly Opelka before Medvedev, making this win over Hurkacz a third straight top-20 win at the tournament.

Dimitrov has also now made back-to-back semi-finals at the San Diego Open and now Indian Wells. Prior to San Diego, he had not reached the last four at any event this year.

Moreover, Dimitrov has not won a tour title since clinching the ATP Finals at the end of the 2017 season. That same title earned him his career-high ranking of three in the world.

Next up, Dimitrov will face new British number one Cameron Norrie. Both men will be fighting for their first Indian Wells final. Norrie had never previously reached even as far as the quarter-finals at Masters 1000 level before this event.
