‘Fans love winners’ – US Open hot shot prompts analyst rule suggestion
A crowd-pleasing shot from the US Open brought out an interesting idea from this renowned and respected commentator and analyst.
Jenson Brooksby and Taylor Fritz were doing battle on Grandstand in an all-American encounter for the New York crowd.
Tied one set apiece, 4-5 in the third, Fritz pushes Brooksby wide off a drop shot.
The 20-year-old sets off to make the ball and fires it between the net post and the umpire’s chair to claim the point, pumping his fist as the crowd erupt.

A shot around the net is a rarity in the sport, and it always gets fans going when they get to see it happen.
And British former pro and broadcaster Mark Petchey agrees, even proposing that a change should be made to the net to ensure it happens more often.
“[I] will say it again and again,” Petchey started a tweet by saying. “Fans love winners. Singles and doubles posts should be on their respective lines so more shots like this can be produced.
